The right choice for your light depends on the camera you are using. It you are using a point and shoot still/video capable camera you need a good light with enough power to cover still and video. Of course this means you may spent more for the light than you did for your camera and housing. If you use lights that don’t live up to your needs you will be disappointed. To save you the trouble of finding out what you need we have tested a lot of lights and settled on three that we think do the best job. Keldan has a lot of power and the best accurate color. Gates has great power and are the truly the best for professional video and Light and Motion is small with enough power but not at the top of the line but the price will fit you budget. All these are all self contained lights and do not use external batteries. Ikelite makes a good video light the, PRO-2800 LED, but we don’t like cords from the batteries to the lamp heads. It is cumbersome underwater. We also like batteries that can be removed from the light and replaces with fresh ones quickly. Unfortunately, the Light and Motion SOLA has to be charged in tact meaning that the light is out of service while charging is performed.  The amount of burn time is also important. Our number one choice is the Keldan. Then the Gates for professional HD cameras. This is if you are serious about professional video. The Sea & Sea will do if you are on a budget and can limit your video needs. If you are working close with macro it is a great light. The one foot to four foot range is fine.

Nocturnal M7001 LED lights are the smallest lights and ideal for Go-Pro and point and shoot cameras. There are two models, one for video and one for focusing.
