Nauticam housing Canon 70D

NA-70D

Nauticam NA-70D housingNauticam announces the release of the NA-70D, the latest in its acclaimed line of precision crafted underwater camera housings. Nauticam is the international leader in innovative housing technology, and the new housing for the Canon 70D capitalizes on that experience. Features include a new, totally integrated electronic vacuum check system – and a host of refinements such as very clever weight reduction techniques and advanced galvanic corrosion prevention.

The NA-70D Housing Nauticam pioneered numerous engineering breakthroughs in previous housings that now come standard on the NA-70D. Like the NA-6D, this new housing borrows a control from it’s Nikon brethren – the patent pending Multi Controller Pad that is located within easy reach of the right thumb. The Multi Controller Pad allows full multidirectional use of the 8-way controller, while still allowing for the rear command dial to be brought out to the right side of the housing. This control is especially interesting with the 70D using the video autofocus… with a light touch, the user can change the focus during a video clip, allowing for “focus pull” and other advanced shots. No other housing manufacturer has this, and none come close to achieving this kind of ergonomic access to the 8-way controller. New! Integrated Electronic Vacuum Check and Leak Detection System  Nauticam is pleased to announce that the NA-70D is the first housing to ship with Nauticam’s new vacuum system with integrated electronic vacuum and leak detection system. Now the operator can, at a glance, instantly see the vacuum/watertight status of the housing. A simple coded LED lighting system lets the user know that the vacuum is solid, or that the housing is losing vacuum. Leak detection is built into the same circuit, so if there is water intrusion, a audible and visual indication will occur. The NA-70D ships with a 3rd bulkhead port specifically for the vacuum system, leaving the user two other bulkhead ports for HDMI, sync cables and other accessories. More information about this system and availability for other Nauticam housings will be forthcoming. The patented Locking Latch System, used to close and securely lock the housing, has received acclaim worldwide for its ease and functionality. These recessed latches are equipped with safety locks, reduce bulk and require minimal physical effort to engage and release. Port changes have never been simpler than utilizing the Patented Nauticam Locking Port Release. No wrestling, no twisting, no misalignment – just seat and lock. Lens changes are also easily accomplished without removing the camera from the housing using the lens release button logically accessed on the housing front. The lightweight, rugged Nauticam handles are generously contoured with a durable over-mold process of comfortable non-slip rubber. The Nauticam brand has quickly become synonymous with superior ergonomics in all their underwater camera housings. The NA-70D will only enhance that reputation. Every control is well thought out. Every button, lever and switch is considered not in terms of what is easier for the designer, but what is best for the shooter. A careful look at the engineering and design of the right hand side of this housing reveals this philosophy in practice. The key shooting controls are all easily accessed with the right hand with very little finger movement required. While the controls may look daunting to those new to Nauticam, after a few shots the controls become second nature. Shoot, change aperture, shoot, change shutter speed, flip to video, change shutter speed, start recording, change ISO – all with the thumb and forefinger, and all done quickly and easily. Lens Support The quality of an image is only as good as the glass it was captured with, and Nauticam firmly believes that every lens that makes sense to be used underwater should be supported. The APS-C sensor on the 70D allows use of a wide range of lenses that are widely known for their underwater capabilities. Lenses like the Tokina 10-17mm and the Canon EF-S 60mm are true workhorses in the Canon underwater domain. Nauticam carefully evaluates new lenses, and is often first to market with support when a new lens is offered. Nauticam also provides the industry’s only locking extension rings in every size potentially required, thus preventing port slippage when using extension rings. Nauticam additionally offers a full range of port adapters allowing existing housing owners to use their current ports, reducing the cost of switching to a Nauticam housing. Port Adapters are available for Aquatica, Ikelite, Inon, Nexus M5 & M6, Sea & Sea NX, Seacam, Subal Version 3 & 4, and Zillion lens ports. Viewfinders A high resolution camera like the Canon 70D demands perfect focus for optimal results. Fortunately, Nauticam has developed the most user-friendly interchangeable precision viewfinders in the world. The standard optical glass viewfinder is very good and travel friendly, but many photographers prefer the ease of a magnified viewfinder with adjustable diopter. Nauticam produces a “straight” 180o enlarging viewfinder and a 45o angled enlarging viewfinder to enhance the ease of close quarters work often associated with macro shooting. Both viewfinders have high quality optics allow viewing of the entire image. A patented external dioptric adjustment allows personal adjustment to a sharp-as-a-tack standard underwater and viewfinder changes can be executed in less than 30 seconds without using tools. Exceptional composition and focus accuracy have never been more accessible. Accessories Nauticam’s NA-DP4 housing for the Small HD DP4 Monitor can take video performance to another level by rendering the video image in a position more amenable to the shooter. The monitor housing easily mounts to the top of the NA-70D and utilizes the optional HDMI Bulkhead for true HDMI connectivity. Utilizing DP4 features like Focus Peaking, Focus Assist, False Color, 1:1 Mapping and more, this larger monitor vastly improves composition, focus capability and exposure.

Nauticam D800

Few cameras have been as broadly anticipated as Nikon’s new D800 entry into the full frame (FX) DSLR camera line up. The 36.3 megapixel CMOS sensor is currently the highest resolution available in any 35mm format and the rest of the camera specs are accordingly impressive. 30/24 FPS 1080p video, 51-point auto focus, 91,000 pixel metering system and a more refined tool suite are welcome improvements. DxOMark recently awarded the D800 the highest scores of any sensor that they have tested, even besting more expensive medium format offerings. This new Nikon should prove to be an excellent choice for professionals and serious enthusiasts who can take advantage of the camera’s exceptional resolving power. Nauticam NA-D800 The NA-D800 is an evolutionary marvel of everything Nauticam users have come to appreciate from the brand with several revolutionary new features added. The industry leading innovations of recent Nauticam housings are obvious with the easy and secure latching system, unrivalled port locking lever system and the superb interchangeable viewfinders. The award winning ergonomics of previous housings have been retained with subtle refinements wherever appropriate. The NA-D800 supports both the Nikon D800 and D800E cameras. Creative Potential at Your Fingertips Designed by photographers for photographers, the NA-D800 puts the controls that matter where they can readily be used. Gripping the familiar rubberized handles is now more akin to a Formula One race car wheel with a panoply of tools a finger or thumb tip away. While never releasing grip, the right forefinger activates Nauticam’s patented two stage shutter release and a newly designed control for the sub-command dial with more precise refinement. The right thumb can quickly activate a new double paddle lever assembly engaging the record function on top and the AF-ON feature on the bottom lever. A similar two paddle arrangement is placed for the left thumb to instantly activate the playback button and most importantly the ISO control. This critical development substantially enhances video capability as ISO variation is essential to video exposure control. The easily reached live view button and live view selector have made switching from shooting stills to video and back again easier than ever, while most settings in each mode are preserved. Finally there is a housing that empowers video capability as much as still photography. Unlocking the D800’s Power In an impressive engineering breakthrough, Nauticam has patents pending on a new Multi Controller Pad located within easy reach of the right thumb. The device virtually recreates the Nikon multi selector on the back of the NA-D800 housing allowing full multidirectional use of this powerful tool. Amazingly, all 51 focus points can now be reached by a direct approach – even on a diagonal. All of the other scroll and select functions are equally enhanced without ever having to move from one button to another in the traditional fashion. Nauticam housings have always been renowned for excellent camera controls, which have continued to evolve for the new NA-D800. The size and function of the main command dial wheel has been improved to more naturally and accurately make adjustments with the right thumb. Exposure Compensation is easily accessible to the right hand, as is the metering selector control. Shooting modes are the province of the left hand through the release mode dial, as is the focus mode selector and AF button. A flash mode selector button and a flash off lever allow users to instantly switch from firing strobes to ambient light photography (and back) when utilizing fiber optic synch cords. Of course, all the requisite function buttons are appropriately positioned around the easily viewed LCD window and will work as well at a 100 meters as they do at the surface. The Best Standard Features in the Business Nauticam pioneered numerous engineering breakthroughs in previous housings that now come standard on the NA-D800. The patented housing Locking Latch System has received acclaim worldwide for its ease and functionality. Canon Rebel T4i (650D)

The NA-650D housing benefits from being the third generation of Nauticam housings for the EOS Rebel lineup, and is the best Rebel housing to date. In just four short years, Nauticam has become the international leader in innovative underwater imaging technology, with the widest range of rugged aluminum camera housings in the world today. With each release, Nauticam builds on past successes and boldly innovates, continually pushing the envelope in ergonomics, design and functionality. An 18 megapixels CMOS imaging sensor, 9-point autofocus, DIGIC 5 processor, 63 zone metering, 1 mega-dot touchscreen TFT LCD, and 1080p 30fps HD video with manual control, the T4i has what it takes to make beautiful images. With its 5 frames per second shooting rate and zippy autofocus, it has the performance rivaling cameras costing far more. T4i does all of this in one of the smallest and lightest SLR bodies available, important in these days of baggage fees and limited carry-ons. The T4i sports a new capability for Live View or Video Mode focus tracking, thanks to it’s new “Hybrid CMOS” sensor that includes dedicated pixels for phase detection autofocus. Instead of having to rely contrast detection only, the T4i can use phase detection to initiate the autofocus. This results in less focus “hunting” and means that now Canon shooters can use autofocus tracking while shooting the kind of video that Canon SLRs are famous for. Canon has released two new lenses – the EF-S 18-135mm and the EF 40mm – that use linear stepper motors for autofocus, which means smoother autofocus for video shooting.  Speaking of video shooting, the T4i inherits its custom white balance algorithm from other Canon SLR’s, meaning that the T4i shooter will be able to accurately and reliably white balance at depths that competitors cannot even approach. There is simply no other camera near its price range that has the capability to white balance underwater like the T4i.   As a member of the Canon EOS SLR family, the T4i can take advantage of the wide selection of superior Canon and third party lenses, including lenses that are well known to be excellent for underwater shooting. The Canon 8-15mm is simply the best fisheye lens available in the world, and the exceptionally popular Tokina 10-17mm fisheye covers a similar focal range at a lower price. The Canon EF-S 10-22 is a superb rectilinear wide-angle zoom lens for those times when wide angle is needed but a fisheye won’t do. The Canon EF-S 60mm is an ideal lens for macro shooting underwater, and is complimented by the legendary Canon 100mm macro for those wanting more reach. For shooters who want to have it all on one dive, the 18-55mm EF-S IS II or the Sigma 17-70mm tackle everything from moderately wide angle to 1:2 macro.    This Canon DSLR delivers beautiful image quality, exceptional white balance control, and the best all around shooting performance of any camera close to its sub $800 price tag. The T4i may not be the trendiest camera released this year, but it definitely deserves the attention of discriminating shooters looking for awesome performance at a bargain price point. Putting the Shooter in Control Every housing control is conceived to make shooting the T4i easy. The most obvious case in point is the Av button control and the single command dial. The T4i, like the T2i/T3i before it, requires the shooter to hold down the Av button and turn the command dial to change the aperture while in Manual Mode, or to change the exposure compensation in Aperture Priority mode. This is easy enough to accomplish on land, but underwater could prove challenging. Not so for the NA-650D shooter – on this housing, the Av button is assigned to a switch – just flip the switch and the housing holds the button down, making it easy to change settings.   New in the NA-650D, the size and shape of the command dial has been changed to make the housing easier to use when diving with thick gloves. The command dial profile has been raised, and the dial itself has a “knobbier” shape, with larger grooves to facilitate the use of gloves. The T4i now incorporates the movie mode switch into the on-off switch of the camera. This is a welcome improvement in the camera; on previous cameras, the user had to wind the mode dial all the way around to get into movie mode. The housing fully supports this by offering a concentric dial control with a pickup for the on-off-movie switch. To make things even easier, the housing features a small window to help align the switch pickup. The net result is that it is easier than ever to shoot 1080p 30fps HD video – just turn the dial to go to movie mode and press the start button. Rubberized handles put the user’s hands in just the right position for comfortable shooting, such that all key controls are within easy reach. While never releasing grip, the right forefinger activates Nauticam’s patented two-stage shutter. The right thumb can quickly activate a double paddle lever assembly engaging the record function on top and the “star” (*) button on the bottom lever. The * button is familiar to Canon shooters – it can be programmed for different combinations of auto focus activation (AF), auto focus lock (AF Lock), exposure activation (AE), and exposure lock (AE Lock). For many underwater shooters, the * button is used for “thumb focus”, meaning that focus is only performed when the * button is pressed. The Nauticam designers placed the * button lever so that it can easily be reached with the thumb, without removing the index finger from the shutter release.   The camera controls such as Set, Quick, Playback, White Balance, Drive Mode, AF Mode, and Picture Styles are all brought to within easy reach of the right hand. The focus point selection button is an easy reach for most hands, making selection of focus points fast and efficient. A lever accessing ISO is located for fingertip control at the right thumb.  ISO is important when shooting movie clips with a digital SLR as the primary exposure control, and this lever means easy access to allow for quick exposure changes.   The Best Standard Features in the Business Nauticam pioneered numerous engineering breakthroughs in previous housings that now come standard on the NA-650D. Innovation Underwater: Innovative Nauticam NA-600D Housing provides access to all camera controls from the handles, and is shipping now! Canon EOS Rebel T3i The newest member of the Canon SLR lineup boasts an impressive number of advanced features at an entry-level price point. Depending on territory, this camera is known as the Canon Digital Rebel T3i (North America), or Canon EOS 600D (worldwide). The T3i features the same field-proven 18-megapixel sensor and 1080p HD video found in 7D, 60D, and 550D, and a new articulating screen makes high angle and low angle composition possible. Nauticam NA-600D Nauticam is proud to announce the arrival of the NA-600D housing for Canon 600D/T3i. The NA-600D builds on the success of the NA-550D housing with a new design that keeps the best of the 550D housing but adds new design elements to further enhance the functionality and ergonomics. The NA-600D housing inherits the patented Nauticam port locking system, locking housing latches, comfortable rubberized handles, and innovative ergonomic access to key camera controls. New features include a multifunction thumb lever for accessing Video Start/Stop and programmable AE Lock button (referred to as “*”), and control extensions moving all of the camera’s controls within reach of the right and left handles.?Unmatched Ergonomics?Nauticam housings are designed with in-water ergonomics in mind, and with NA-600D, Nauticam engineers have again created a system that puts important controls at the fingertips of the user. Entry-level cameras like T3i are more dependent upon the menu system than higher end models for control changes, making it important to relocate many of the camera’s rear pushbuttons to the right handle. ??Shutter Release, ISO, *, Video Start/Stop, AV +/-, and the camera’s front command wheel are all accessible via levers or dials under the right handle. Pushbuttons on the back of the housing access Focus Area Selector, Quick Control Menu, White Balance, Autofocus Mode, Drive, Playback, Delete, and Set. An accessory Zoom Gear Control Knob and pushbuttons for Menu and Info are available from the left handle. Another innovative ergonomic advancement is Nauticam’s two-stage shutter release lever. This mechanical lever greatly enhances tactile feel of the half press and full press positions of the shutter release button, allowing precise focus control, and less accidental shutter actuation.??The very successful AV +/- switch is unchanged from 550D. When shooting in manual exposure mode, this lever assigns the function of the command wheel to shutter speed or f-stop, and when in Av or Tv modes enables exposure compensation. The lever is large enough to be operated by feel, allowing the photographer to keep their eye in the viewfinder while operating this function and making exposure changes on the fly. The fingertip ISO lever replaces the 550D ISO paddle, making it easier to change ISO –allowing quick video exposure changes right from the handle.?Continued Innovation?New, easy to use locking latches eliminate the stainless steel latches used previously. This new closure method reduces overall size and is easier to operate. These locking latches are easy to close with minimal hand strength required, and protected from accidental opening by a locking detent. A lens release button is offered as standard equipment, allowing lens changes while a zoom gear is attached without opening the housing back. NA-600D housing is the smallest SLR housing in the Nauticam lineup, which should appeal to anyone concerned with the large size of some SLR housings. This housing can still accommodate the same accessories as all other Nauticam housings, allowing use of an extensive line of lenses, ports, port adapters, lens gears, and viewfinders. Patented Locking Port Release Lever & Locking Extension Rings Nauticam’s acclaimed Patented Locking Port Release Lever is incorporated into the NA-600D housing. Lens ports are inserted straight into the Nauticam mount, eliminating the twisting or threading actions that can extrude dry o-rings. Once seated, the large red port lock lever is engaged, securely locking the port in place. To remove a lens port, the silver unlock button is pressed, the port lever rotated to the outer position, and the port is pulled straight out of the housing.  Nauticam is pleased to offer the industry’s only locking extension ring system as standard equipment, securely fixing large dome ports even when mounted with an extension ring. Patented Expanded Viewfinders  Nauticam’s highly acclaimed optional 180º and 45º viewfinders provide a crystal clear life size view of the camera’s optical viewfinder through a diving mask. The patented external dioptric adjustment allows eye relief to be fine tuned in water. High quality optics eliminate distortion and keep color fringing to an absolute minimum. The edge-to-edge, magnified viewfinder image makes confirming fine focus and checking corner composition an absolute breeze. Port Adapters for Other Housing Lines Nauticam offers a full range of port adapters allowing existing housing owners to use their current ports. This greatly reduces the cost of switching to a Nauticam housing, and brings the benefits of Nauticam Innovation to a wide range of underwater photographers! Nauticam Canon 7D

60mm lens

The 7D housing is the first Canon housing Nauticam built for Canon EOS DSLR cameras. Along with the housing, Nauticam has announced an extensive line of Canon lens port system ranging from Macro, Zoom to Ultra wide angle lens to fulfill different shooting conditions. The 7D housing has been regarded as Canon’s best featured APS-C DSLR to date. It features an 18 megapixel CMOS sensor, and one feature makes the camera impeccable is the 1080p HD video at 30 frame function. The first impression of the 7D housing is the compact and robust outlook, and like its precedent, the beautiful contour surface come from precision CNC machining and hard anodized finishing.  If you compare the 7D housing with previous Nauticam housing, you will find that the new housing has embraced a new way to access the camera buttons without moving hands from the handles. There is a set of ‘piano’ keys in the rear case of the housing for accessing AF-on selection, star and set function and the most frequently used camera functions can be easily reached through handy levers. And divers don’t have to align the camera switch positions to use the on/off lever and still/video lever before closing the housing, the spring loaded actuating mechanisms do automatically engage themselves.

The 7D housing come with standard 0.66x viewfinder, and dual optical fiber bulkhead.
